LB was a man of many talents, interests, passions, and moods. Ask the people who knew and loved him, and you'll hear about a man - a father, friend, teacher, mentor, lover, rival - whose personality was big enough to fill every room and any heart.
Listen to his music, read his letters, and you'll find all the sides of that larger-than-life personality: quiet and searching; brash and bold; dark and light; tragic and goofy and everything in between.
This is what I love best about Bernstein's music - the window it opens into his soul, his mind, and his many different moods. And now, the new music that's been written in his honor, for this project, is capturing so many different sides of this many-splendoured man.
