Lara Downes, pianist: Guestbook

Teresa Davis

May 30, 2008

Hi Lara,

It's Teresa, an old friend from SFGC. I was just thinking about you today for no reason--the Dew Fairy song from Hansel und Gretel popped into my head, and I thought of you, me and Amy singing it. So I thought I'd look you up today, and I'm happy I did!

I'm so glad to see that you continued your music, and that you're doing very, very well. You were always such a talented performer, and I always admired you.

I hope to hear from you when you have the chance, so please do send me a note and tell me about your family.

Sincerely,
Teresa

Only tonight did I figured out your/Charlotte's piano fame connection (with Nina Watson's help)
I am listening to your music as I type. Most excellent. I am your newest fan. See you in the classroom tomorrow.

Terrific show tonight. Exposed us to some composers we'd never heard before and made us think about Ellington in a new way. Very much the treat to hear Nicole Raynor. What an experience for her and such a vibrant demonstration of the importance of your young artists program. Hope you feel comfortable in Davis for a long time.
Best,

hi lara! i have two songs that i would like you to consider playing piano on. once recorded i plan to put them on itunes and we could split the profit 50/50. the first song is a tribute to princess diana and the second is in memory of an california musician who died. both songs are screaming for your classical talent. if interested i would sweeten the deal by throwing in a package of hershey chocolate kisses. no life can be considered full without chocolate in it. if you would care to listen to the demos please let me know and if not i still look forward to hearing you play again at the mondavi center. good days and good nights jim r

Hello,
I stumbled across your website and I'm so glad I did
You seem to have a beautiful soul and putting in upon view in the right way, through your music.

Have a lovely day and keep creating your magic.

Hi Lara! While playing about on my computer amongst the many night pieces I came across your lovely cd. Beautiful! I have only listened so far to the Bolcom, the Barber, and Dream a Little Dream of me, and I loved all of them. I am in the midst of touring a recital with a wonderful "reciter" of poetry; we often mount collaborative recitals and this one we have called Nocture: the Night in Music and Poetry. I am too lazy to type the programme here but if you send me your e-mail address I will send it as an attachment. Isn't it fun to create these "themed" programmes? Where did you study? I am a Yale (MMA and DMA) graduate and taught my first 5 years of university teaching life at Whittier so do know your neck of the woods! Thanks for such a terrific CD!
